Whey is a natural component of milk that's isolated during the process of cheese manufacture. It is a rich source of high quality protein, vitamins and minerals. Protein concentrates of whey are further isolated to produce functional food ingredients with an exceptionally rich source of essential amino acids and bioactive components.

In recent years interest has grown in the potential immune stimulating effects of whey proteins. However, the specific composition of whey proteins vary due to different manufacturing processes and therefore different whey proteins express different actions and degrees of immune enhancement. In vivo testing has proven that Imucare™ is an important whey protein with potent immune enhancing effects and capable of reducing the severity of rotaviral diarrhoea.

In vivo studies have proven that Imucare™ is able to enhance both cellular and humoral immune responses. Modulation of immune function by the foods that we eat is an attractive way to help optimise immunity and improve health.

Rotavirus infection is the most common cause of diarrhoea in young children. Currently no vaccines for rotavirus are available and therefore there is a great need for effective methods for reducing childhood rotaviral infection. In vivo research, using a rotavirus testing model, has proven that Imucare™ supplementation is associated with significant reductions in the frequency of severe diarrhoeal symptoms, onset of severe symptoms and duration of infection.

Imucare™ is an important whey protein proven to produce defined effects on the immune system and infectious disease relevant to human health.
