As part of our ongoing commitment to research benefiting children and families, the Fernleaf Institute is proud to offer the Fernleaf Institute Research Grant. The Fernleaf Institute Research Grant is known as the Anchor Institute research Grant in some countries. The Fernleaf Institute Research Grant supports original research in key areas of human nutrition for child and family health. In keeping with this, the majority of research funded through the Fernleaf Institute Research Grant Programme will be about the health, nutrition and development of healthy children from ordinary families. ApplicationsApplications for 2009 are now open. Fernleaf Institute announces winner of the 2008 research grantCongratulations to Ng Min Jie, a graduate student from Universiti Putra Malaysia, who is the winner of the 2008 Fernleaf Institute Research Grant valued at USD12,000. The grant will go towards a year-long study to determine parents’ attitudes towards their children’s nutritional intake in the early years. The findings will provide useful evidence to develop a nutritional guide for Malaysian parents aimed at reducing obesity in young children. This research will be supervised by Professor Khor Geok Lin, Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Universiti Putra Malaysia.
