What We Do At Fernleaf, we are dedicated to creating the best products for families, supported by leading science from the Fernleaf Institute - a network of experts who are passionate about families, nutrition and the goodness of milk.

We combine expertise in scientific research with a deep knowledge of dairy product development to bring the best in dairy nutrition to families the world over.

Although it may seem like a simple food, milk is actually a complex nutritional product, rich in protein and many vitamins and minerals to support growth and development. Milk protein is particularly nutritious as it contains all 18 essential amino acids as well as many components which are important for health. At the Fernleaf Institute we are expert in understanding the complexity of milk and isolating components that can be used for specific health benefits.

We have funded numerous human trials, including a large-scale human clinical trial that investigated the benefits of fortified milk on children's health. This trial showed that children who drank Fernleaf 1+ that was fortified with Nutri-care™ (a nutrient bundle comprising vitamins A, C, E, selenium, zinc and iron) were up to two times better protected against common childhood illnesses such as fever, diarrhoea and chest infections.

	Our Goal At the Fernleaf Institute, it's our mission to help each and every child reach their potential by supporting families and providing the very best in nutrition. To carry out this mission, our team is supported by more than 200 scientific staff at Fonterra's main research site located in Palmerston North, New Zealand. In addition we work with many Independent Scientific Advisors who help us ensure that our products provide optimal nutrition for growing children.
